Stroop vs UserTesting[1]
UserTesting is the enterprise choice for recruited participants and an account team. Stroop puts the whole research plan in one study and cites every finding.
30 study-days free. No card.
UserTesting's side of every comparison on this page comes from UserTesting's plans page, checked 17 October 2026. Where UserTesting wins, the table says so.
Who should choose UserTesting
- You need people found for you. UserTesting's participant network is the centre of its product, and Stroop doesn't recruit.
- Procurement needs SOC 2 and ISO 27001 on day one. UserTesting lists both on its plans page. We have neither yet.
- You want an account team and one contract across a whole enterprise. That's how UserTesting sells, and plenty of research teams prefer it.
If that describes your team, choose UserTesting. The rest of this page is for the teams it doesn't describe.
The whole research plan fits in one study.
Diary studies and IATs beside the usability test
UserTesting covers unmoderated, moderated and survey work, with card sorts and tree tests on Ultimate. Stroop adds diary studies and scored IATs, so the brand question and the checkout question run on the same participants from one link.
Every finding cites the second it came from
UserTesting lists AI-generated Insight Summaries and sentiment analysis. In Stroop each sentence the assistant writes ends in the participant and the second, such as [P07 11:48], and pressing it plays the clip. Claims it can't cite are rejected before you see them.
Phone participants take part in the browser
UserTesting's phone tests use its Engage app. Stroop's run in the browser the participant already has, in your colours, with a microphone check before the first task.
What your stakeholders read at the end.
A theme in Stroop counts who said it, quotes them with citations and keeps the evidence against it. Beside it, what UserTesting lists for the same job.
What UserTesting lists

The same study, priced both ways
UserTesting doesn't publish prices, so its side stays a quote. Move the slider to the recorded sessions you need in a week.

Switching takes a weekend.
- Participant lists come across as CSV or XLSX. Map the columns once and each person lands in the right workspace with their attributes.
- Your UserTesting recordings stay with UserTesting unless you export them before the contract ends. We don't import them.
- Run the next study on the 30 free study-days while the old contract runs out. Nothing has to move on day one.
Questions
Can Stroop recruit participants the way UserTesting does?
- No. You invite your own participants (your customers, a client's users, a recruiter's list) or point a panel such as Prolific at the study link, and pay them directly. If you need people found for you, stay with UserTesting.
Is Stroop cheaper than UserTesting?
- We can't say for certain, because UserTesting doesn't publish prices: every edition says "Request pricing". On Stroop a 7-day unmoderated test with up to 40 recorded sessions is $63. Get their quote, then price the same study in our calculator.
Does Stroop have SOC 2?
- Not yet, and there won't be a badge on the site until there is a report. We have an EU data region, a DPA, a public sub-processor list, encryption at rest and in transit, and a per-workspace AI off switch. If procurement needs a SOC 2 report this week, UserTesting is the safer choice.
What is Stroop?
- Stroop is the all-in-one research and testing platform. Run usability tests, prototypes, surveys, tree tests, diaries and IATs in one study, and get results back transcribed, scored and charted, with every finding linked to the session it came from. The first 30 study-days are free, with no card.
