You've been sent a study link.
This page says what Stroop is, what happens when you take part, and how to stop.
Who runs your study
The organisation that sent you the link runs the study. Their name and logo are at the top of every page.
They wrote the questions and tasks. They are the people who will look at your answers.
Stroop is the website the study runs on. We don't find people for studies, and we never sell anyone's details.
Before you start
The first page tells you who is asking and about how long it will take.
Next comes a consent page. It says what the study will record and what happens to it. Please read it. Nothing is recorded until you agree.
What gets recorded, and why
That depends on the study, and the consent page says exactly what. It might be your answers, your clicks, your voice, your camera or your screen.
Researchers record these things to see where a website or app is hard to use, or to hear what you think in your own words.
While anything is being recorded, you'll see the word “Recording” at the top of the page.
Nothing to install
Studies run in the web browser you already have. You don't need an account.
If a study needs your microphone or camera, your browser will ask you first. You can say no.
A diary study may ask you to add it to your phone's home screen. That is a shortcut to a web page, not an app from an app store.
How to stop
You can stop at any time, for any reason. Choose Exit at the top of the page, or just close it.
When you exit, you can also ask for everything you've given so far to be deleted.
Having your data deleted
Ask the organisation that invited you. They can delete everything you gave in their studies, and it's deleted from Stroop too.
If the study sent you an email, the link in it lets you see your consent forms, download your data or ask for it to be deleted.
If nobody asks, study data is still deleted after a set time. Often that's 12 months after the study ends.
Questions or worries
Questions about the study itself go to the organisation that invited you. Their details are in your invitation.
For anything about Stroop, or to report a study that seems wrong, email [email protected]. A person will read it.
You can read our privacy notice too.
For researchers: Stroop is the all-in-one research and testing platform. Run usability tests, prototypes, surveys, tree tests, diaries and IATs in one study, and get results back transcribed, scored and charted, with every finding linked to the session it came from.
