Stroop vs Maze[1]

Maze is built for product teams testing Figma prototypes at scale. Stroop puts the moderated round, the diary and the IAT in the same study, and cites every finding.

Who should choose Maze

  • You need a panel. Maze Enterprise lists a global panel of 7M+ participants alongside free use of your own.
  • You want AI to draft the study or moderate the interviews. Maze has an AI study builder and an AI moderator. We have neither.
  • Procurement needs SOC 2 Type II now. Maze is certified. We aren't yet.
  • One study a month is enough. Maze's free plan gives you that with five seats, with no end date.

If that describes your team, choose Maze. The rest of this page is for the teams it doesn't describe.

The prototype test is one block in a bigger study.

Moderated sessions, diaries and IATs on the same participants

Maze lists moderated interviews on Enterprise and doesn't run diary studies or implicit tests. In Stroop a moderated round can follow the prototype test in the same study, with booking, transcripts and observers who watch from a back room the participant never sees.

Sample study
Three observers in the back room, with notes. The participant sees the moderator only.

Every finding cites the moment it came from

Maze lists AI-powered analysis and automated reports. Stroop's assistant ends every sentence with the participant and the second, such as [P07 11:48], and drops any claim it can't cite before you see it. It never overrides a measured result.

Sample study
Participant 7's words at 11:48, cited by the findings under them.

Sample study
Three findings, each citing the participants and seconds behind it.

Switching takes a weekend.

  • Participant lists come across as CSV or XLSX. Map the columns once and each person lands in the right workspace with their attributes.
  • Figma prototypes come across as they are: paste the prototype link into a new study and mark the start and goal screens again.
  • Your Maze results and recordings stay with Maze unless you export them. We don't import them.

Questions

Does Stroop test Figma prototypes?

Yes. Paste the prototype link, mark the start and goal screens, and participants run the tasks in their browser with think-aloud recorded. It can sit in the same study as a survey, a moderated round or an IAT, and it's billed at $9 a day with 40 recorded sessions a week included.

Is there a free plan like Maze's?

Stroop's free start is 30 study-days with no card, on any method. After that it's $79 a month, credited in full against what you run, and a month with nothing live costs $0. Maze's free plan carries on indefinitely at one study a month, which suits one occasional test better.

Can I invite my own participants without an enterprise plan?

Yes, on every plan, at no extra cost: share a link, send invites from the participant list, or point a panel such as Prolific at it. Stroop doesn't recruit. Maze lists free use of your own participants on Enterprise, alongside its panel.

What is Stroop?

Stroop is the all-in-one research and testing platform. Run usability tests, prototypes, surveys, tree tests, diaries and IATs in one study, and get results back transcribed, scored and charted, with every finding linked to the session it came from. The first 30 study-days are free, with no card.
